Speech under the national flag

Dear teachers and dear students:

Good morning, everyone!

The topic I'm sharing today is - "Time Waits for No One, Strive for Excellence."

"Cherish time, seize the present" and "Study hard, strive for excellence" are familiar admonishments. Hearing such advice, some people might say: Isn't it enough to study hard? I can study very well! However, a class is only 40 minutes long. If you daydream for 5 seconds every minute, that's 200 seconds in one class, and 2800 seconds, or 47 minutes, in 14 classes a day. What can we do in those 47 minutes? Memorize a few words, do a few exercises, recite a poem, read a classic... You can learn a little more than others every day.

Time will not decrease or increase; it flows at a constant pace. We should actively seize time instead of waiting for it.

There is such a story: A philosopher passed through a desert and saw the ruins of a city. Time had left the city in ruins, but upon closer inspection, one could still discern its former glory. The philosopher wanted to rest there and sat down on a random stone sculpture.

Looking at the city walls that had been eliminated by history, he couldn't help but sigh.

Suddenly, a voice came: "Sir, what are you sighing about?"

He looked around, but there was no one, so he became puzzled. The voice sounded again, and he searched carefully, discovering that it came from a "two-faced god" statue he had never seen before.

He asked, "How can you have two faces?"

The two-faced god replied, "With two faces, I can look back at the past, firmly remembering past lessons; and look forward to the future, to envision a bright future."

The philosopher said, "The past is the passing of the present, which cannot be retained, while the future is the continuation of the present, which cannot be obtained now. If you don't focus on the present, even if you understand the past and foresee the future, what is the point?"

After hearing this, the two-faced god couldn't help but shed tears, saying, "After hearing your words, I understand why I ended up like this. A long time ago, I guarded this city, boasting that I could look back at the past and look forward to the future, but I never truly grasped the present. As a result, the city was conquered by the enemy, its beautiful glory turned into fleeting clouds, and I was abandoned in the ruins." Although the story is fictional, the truth of seizing the present is real and profound.

For us, seizing the present is specifically reflected in studying hard. Effort is a magical word. Through effort, Napoleon became a great man; Konosuke Matsushita, through effort, built Japan's and the world's leading home appliance company - Panasonic.

Any great invention in the world requires two steps: setting a goal and working tirelessly towards it. So, how exactly should we do this? First, setting a goal is essential. Then, break down the big goal into several small goals, each within "reachable" range. For example, if your usual exam scores are around 85 points, and you want to set a big goal of scoring over 115 points, then set small goals, striving to improve by 5 points each time. Only by persevering and not slacking off can we ultimately achieve our goals.

The process of striving will inevitably involve hardship, resistance, and sweat. But please persevere; a life without hard work and struggle is not a complete life. A comfortable environment only produces mediocre people; the only place that is truly free of fatigue is the grave!

If you love the ages, you must love the present even more. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow has not yet arrived; the most important thing is to seize the present. We should take advantage of our prime years to strive hard and make achievements. In this way, regardless of whether we succeed in the future, we can say with a clear conscience: I have not wasted my youth, I have strived, and I have left my footprints on the sands of time.

On the road of life, it is goals that drive us forward, beliefs that propel us onward, sweat that earns us our youth, and cherishing time that makes us more fulfilled! Let us raise our sails, persevere, and together reach the other shore of success!

Teacher's Speech

Dear leaders, teachers, and students:

Good morning, everyone! The theme of my speech today is—"Time and tide wait for no man; cherish every minute! "

First, I'd like to share a story: "The famous educator Benjamin Finkelstein once received a call from a young man seeking guidance. He then arranged a meeting time and place with the young man who yearned for success and sought guidance.

When the young man arrived as scheduled, Benjamin's door was wide open, but the sight that greeted the young man was quite unexpected—Benjamin's room was messy and in disarray.

Before the young man could speak, Benjamin greeted him, "Look at my room, it's so untidy. Please wait outside for a minute while I tidy up, then you can come in." Benjamin then gently closed the door.

In less than a minute, Benjamin opened the door again and warmly invited the young man into the living room. Now, a different scene unfolded before the young man's eyes—everything in the room was neatly arranged, and there were two freshly poured glasses of red wine, still rippling slightly with a faint aroma.

However, before the young man could ask Benjamin about his difficulties regarding life and career, Benjamin politely said, "Let's

have a drink. You can go now."

The young man, holding the wine glass, was stunned, both embarrassed and regretful, saying, "But... I haven't asked you for advice yet... "

"Isn't this enough?" Benjamin said with a smile, glancing around his room, softly saying, "You've been in here for another minute."

The young man thoughtfully said, "A minute... a minute... I understand. You've made me understand the profound truth that a minute can be used to do many things, to change many things." Benjamin smiled knowingly. The young man

drank the wine in his glass in one gulp, thanked Benjamin repeatedly, and happily left. Long ago, Tao Yuanming, a poet of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, had this lament: "The prime of life does not return, a day cannot be dawned twice. One should strive diligently, for time waits for no man!" This is the same for us; only by seizing every minute of life can we grasp an ideal life. We are young people, the spring of life, the sun at eight or nine o'clock in the morning. We will become warriors battling the waves in the torrent of time. It is an honor to live in this era, but we also feel a heavy responsibility. With the development of the times and the continuous progress of society, new ideas, new information, new changes, and new demands are coming our way. Students must seize opportunities and make progress. Reading is the only way for all those who want to achieve great things, it is the foundation of all creation, and diligent reading is a requirement of the times!

May, the month when pomegranate flowers bloom, is drawing to a close, and we will soon welcome the month of June, a time for hard work and struggle. Ninth-grade students are striving for their ideals, composing their own struggle songs; eighth-grade students are also about to face the mid-term exams, whose scores directly count towards the high school entrance exam, so they must also make good use of every minute and strive hard; perhaps seventh-grade students are now thinking, "It's okay, I still have time!" But this is not true. Time flies. Looking back to last September, when everyone first stepped into the school gates as junior high school students, it seems like only yesterday. Therefore, we should cherish time like gold, make good use of every minute now, work diligently, and lay a solid foundation for future studies.

Students, beautiful wishes and lofty ideals are always accompanied by difficulties. Only by studying hard and overcoming difficulties today can we achieve success tomorrow! Finally, I sincerely wish every teacher a smooth career and good health! I wish every student academic progress and happy growth, and that you will hand in a paper that you will not regret!
