The self-study room changed me.

Grade 2 ( 5) Class Zeng Zirui

I remember it was in the spring of this year when the school set up student self-study rooms in the dormitories. Next to our dormitory, at the end of each floor, in 1, 2 rooms, moving the beds and setting up desks and chairs, it became a self-study room.

The self-study room is a quiet place. There are many hardworking figures here, everyone quietly reading and studying. I think it may be one of the most beautiful pictures of student life that I can think of in the future. From the first time I came to this place, it's winter now, and I have insisted on going to the self-study room at least 5 times a week to study. Every day, students come to and from the self-study room, one by one, in groups. What changes are their clothes and appearance, what remains unchanged is their hard work.

In the self-study room, I can transport myself to another world. No matter what complex emotions I had before, the quiet atmosphere here can calm me down, allowing me to talk to my inner self, and to engage with emotions that are usually difficult to access. Being with these students who are self-disciplined and have high learning ability, I have also greatly improved myself. Since junior high school, mathematics has always been my most troublesome subject. Some formulas and theorems, I couldn't understand them even after spending a long time, and I repeatedly made mistakes in the same type of questions, and naturally, my exams were a mess. But in the self-study room, I can calmly and methodically carry out various calculations and reasoning. Some principles and formulas that I couldn't figure out in class, now all light up “green lights”, suddenly becoming clear, and my math scores gradually crossed the "poverty line" of passing. My memory isn't bad, but my restlessness always prevents me from being quiet and focused, so the parts that require memorization and recitation in subjects like Chinese and English are also my weaknesses. But in the self-study room, I can calm down, remembering each word, each poem, and each key point firmly. Over time, my knowledge accumulation has actually made a qualitative leap, and it has become easier to apply.

People need quiet. Quiet allows people to think without interference, and only through thinking can problems ultimately be solved. Quiet has an invisible power, like a "field", invisible and intangible, but it does exist. In a quiet atmosphere, the rhythm of time seems to be changed, and those immersed in learning are the most beautiful.

I have become accustomed to studying in the self-study room. Self-study is a process of self-precipitation. Maybe at first it doesn't feel anything special, but as time accumulates, everything changes quietly. This is a win-win situation, both gaining knowledge and changing the mind.
