Youthful festivals are doubly affectionate, who knows the feelings of old age;
Not following the customs of mugwort and charms, only praying for peace with calamus wine.
Day by day, the temples add white hair, year by year, the pomegranate brocade shines brightly;
For thousands of years, the wise and foolish are the same in an instant, how many are buried in oblivion and how many gain fame.

III. Dragon Boat Festival Fun

The Dragon Boat Festival is also called Duanwu Festival or May Festival. Many people know that the origin of this festival is related to the great poet Qu Yuan.
Dragon boat racing. At that time, when the people of Chu heard that Qu Yuan had thrown himself into the river, many people rowed boats to Dongting Lake, which is the origin of dragon boat racing. Every year on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, dragon boat racing is used to commemorate Qu Yuan. People hoped that the oars of the dragon boats could drive away the fish in the river, so that the fish would not eat Qu Yuan's body.
Eating zongzi. On the fifth day of the fifth month, people in Chu would throw cooked glutinous rice into the river to commemorate Qu Yuan. Worried that the fish would eat the rice, they started using bamboo tubes to hold the glutinous rice, and later, gradually replaced bamboo tubes with zongzi leaves to wrap the glutinous rice.

IV. Safety Work

Your children's health and safety are our concern. To ensure your children have a safe, happy, and meaningful Dragon Boat Festival, we sincerely hope you will take the following safety precautions.

VI. Interpretation of the 2021 Hubei New College Entrance Examination 3+1+2 Reform Plan

Hubei's new college entrance examination will adopt the "3+1+2" plan. The first "3" will still be Chinese, mathematics, and English as compulsory subjects. "1" means that students can choose one subject from physics and history. "2" is to choose two subjects from biology, chemistry, geography, and politics. The "3+1+2" model only has a total of 12 combinations.

1

Hubei New College Entrance Examination 3+1+2 Subject Selection

"3" refers to the three compulsory subjects of Chinese, mathematics, and English, which are completely determined; "1" refers to choosing one subject from physics and history; "2" refers to choosing two subjects from biology, chemistry, geography, and politics.

The adoption of this new model greatly reduces the number of college entrance examination subject combinations, simplifies the teaching structure, and reduces student anxiety.

01 Physics + Chemistry + Biology

This selection plan is the most standard, traditional, and pure "science student" plan. This combination can cover 97.4% of majors, and the 2.6% of majors that cannot be selected are basically philosophy and history majors.

This combination plan is the most challenging in the "new college entrance examination" subject selection. The advantage of this plan is that it has the least memorization and the most understanding. The disciplines are highly related, mutually verifying and promoting each other. The disadvantage is that the learning difficulty is very high, but under the new college entrance examination system, this is not the most competitive combination.

02 Physics + Chemistry + Geography

"Geography" is also known as the science among liberal arts subjects, and university geography-related majors basically only recruit science students. Using scientific thinking to learn geography has a great advantage in terms of understanding and mastering.

However, geography is the most difficult subject among the three liberal arts subjects, but from the perspective of science learning, less memorization and more understanding are more suitable for the needs of some student groups.

03 Physics + Chemistry + Politics

98.9% of majors are available, and in fact, some top universities have a 100% acceptance rate for majors. Since politics is one of the necessary subjects for postgraduate entrance examinations after university, if politics was not chosen as a reference subject during high school, there will be a knowledge gap of about 1-2 years, which will have a significant impact on the future postgraduate entrance examination path.

Traditional science students often find the politics subject very difficult. For arts students, politics is not an advantageous subject either. It is therefore quite difficult to make a breakthrough in the subject of politics. Furthermore, the subject of politics is not very closely related to physics and chemistry, and learning it does not have a connecting or promoting effect; in addition, the breadth of the subject of politics in terms of professional choice coverage is worrying, so this choice needs to be carefully considered.

04 Physics + Biology + Geography

99% of majors are available. This combination is often chosen by students who excel in physics, have average scores in other subjects, and have no clear future goals. Among the other subjects, biology (a traditional science subject) and geography (a traditional arts subject) are relatively easier and do not require a lot of memorization (compared to history and politics), and the physics + geography combination also has considerable development potential.

In short, this combination is generally suitable for students with the following two characteristics:

(1) Excellent physics grades and strong logical thinking ability; (2) Average grades in other subjects and no clear future career development plan.

05 Physics + Biology + Politics

The group of people who choose this combination is also relatively small. From the school's perspective, it is not recommended to recommend students to choose this combination. On the one hand, because the target student group is relatively small, it is difficult to make horizontal comparisons with fellow students in the same school, which is not conducive to understanding their true level; on the other hand, due to teacher resources, it is difficult to design a separate timetable for students in this combination.

06 Physics + Geography + Politics

99% of majors are available. This subject combination is more like a choice made by arts students with good science grades, in order to avoid wasting high scores in physics and the range of choices when filling out applications. Students with outstanding physics scores and a science bias (good at mathematics and physics, poor at chemistry and biology) are recommended to choose this combination.

07 History + Geography + Politics

This combination is suitable for candidates who want to choose art majors or media majors; candidates who aim to take the entrance examinations for majors such as Chinese Language and Literature, Journalism, Sociology, and International Politics mostly choose this traditional arts comprehensive combination.

08 History + Geography + Chemistry

The available major ratio is 88.6%. This is the best choice for candidates who are not interested in physics or have very poor physics grades, but who excel in arts subjects.

09 History + Geography + Biology

Suitable for Japanese, sports, and medical students. The available major ratio is 77.8%. Geography and biology are relatively easy to learn, especially suitable for sports students, but the competition is fierce.

10 History + Politics + Chemistry

The advantage of this choice is that students with stronger arts thinking can broaden their professional choices with one chemistry subject, so as not to enter the purely arts field that they dislike. At the same time, there is not too much disconnect between the subjects. However, the differences between the subjects are relatively large in the specific learning process, requiring students to be able to switch flexibly between different ways of thinking!

11 History + Politics + Biology

If the candidate's biology score is relatively good among the three science subjects, it is recommended to choose this subject combination. The professional application ratio is 75.3%. Except for biology and bioengineering majors that have clear restrictions on biology, most other majors rarely have high requirements for biology.

12 History + Chemistry + Biology

Chemistry + History. This combination of moderate difficulty in science (general difficulty in science: physics > chemistry > biology) + moderate difficulty in arts (general difficulty in arts: politics > history > geography) is difficult to have a particular focus in terms of professional choices.

II

2021 Hubei New College Entrance Examination Reform Plan

The Hubei New College Entrance Examination has been officially announced. The total score for college admissions consists of three subjects from the unified college entrance examination: Chinese, mathematics, and foreign languages, and three subjects from the high school academic level examination chosen by the candidates themselves. The total score is 750 points, with 150 points each for Chinese, mathematics, and foreign languages. The three subjects of the high school academic level examination are scored with grade points, and each subject is converted to 100 points upon admission.

The three high school academic level examination subjects included in the total score are chosen by the candidates themselves from among the subjects of political thought, history, geography, physics, chemistry, and biology, according to the requirements of the colleges they apply to and their own strengths.

Candidates can take the foreign language examination twice and choose the better score to be included in the total college entrance examination score.

1

"Class-based teaching" will become the new norm

The 3+3 model of the new college entrance examination means that in addition to the unified college entrance examination subjects of Chinese, mathematics, and foreign languages, there will also be three high school academic level examination subjects for students to choose from. The diversification of subject selection methods will break the traditional teaching model, with teachers changing from a "buyer's market" to a "seller's market," being "chosen" by students, and students' courses changing from a "fixed menu" to a "buffet." "Class-based teaching" will become the new normal teaching method.

2

Balanced development among subjects will become a new challenge

After the implementation of the new college entrance examination, the six subjects of physics, chemistry, biology, history, geography, and politics will be treated as academic level examination subjects by some students, while others will treat them as elective subjects for the college entrance examination. This requires schools to conduct stratified teaching according to the different needs of students.

3

Stratified teaching will become a new direction in teaching

In the future, students' comprehensive quality evaluation will be used as an important reference for college admissions. This change will actively promote diversified teaching in schools and meet the needs of students' individual development.

4

The comprehensive development of students' comprehensive qualities will become a new trend in evaluation

After the implementation of the 6-choose-3 system in the new college entrance examination, students will no longer take the same classes and do the same exercises. It will pay more attention to the differences and imbalances in students' growth and development, maximizing the opportunities for students with different interests, learning backgrounds, and learning abilities to obtain the most suitable development environment and achieve comprehensive improvement.

5

Students' career planning will become a new focus of education

How to choose subjects independently in the new college entrance examination will directly affect what major students will study and what job they will do in the future. How to enable high school students to choose their career direction early according to their interests and characteristics will also become a new focus of attention.

In 2018, the new college entrance examination reform plan was implemented for new high school freshmen; in 2021, the college entrance examination admissions fully implemented the "two-based, one-reference" policy.

The "two-based, one-reference" policy for college entrance examination admissions is based on the unified college entrance examination scores and high school academic level examination scores, and refers to the comprehensive evaluation of high school students, basically forming an examination and admission model of classified examinations, comprehensive evaluation, and diversified admissions.

Education management has changed, the form of education has changed, the content of textbooks has also changed, and in terms of learning strategies, students and parents should also make appropriate changes.

(The next issue of the home-school communication will share an interpretation of the "two-based, one-reference" policy.)
