Give Yourself a Guiding Light

The last rays of twilight had faded, and the world was shrouded in a veil of darkness, devoid of the clarity of day. As dusk settled, the city lights twinkled, a kaleidoscope of neon signs forming a river of stars embedded in the night, stretching far into the distance.

I couldn't help but feel melancholic. When night falls, lights illuminate the world. But when my heart is consumed by darkness, will there be a light to guide me? Faced with academic pressure, my parents' anxieties, my teachers' reprimands, and my declining grades, I felt disheartened, lost on a distant path, my heart wavering and hesitant. In the lonely night, I couldn't find a single ray of light, gradually losing myself and my direction, immersing my heart in endless darkness. The bright red report card and the troublesome math problems were like a hammer, shattering my fragile heart, leaving behind a trail of sadness, tears uncontrollably streaming down my face.

I had lost all motivation to face the mountain of homework. I stared blankly out the window, gazing at the starry sky, searching for a light to illuminate my path. Outside, the neon lights shone brightly, and the sounds of laughter and merriment drifted from afar, but they felt like the screech of a saw, piercing my eardrums and stinging my soul. The laughter and bustle only stirred waves of sadness in my stagnant heart.

The sound of flapping wings broke my reverie. A moth landed in a pool of light, its body bathed in the warm glow. It continuously fluttered its wings, striving to reach the heart of the light. Once, twice, thrice, the tiny insect desperately embraced the light with its wings. I was stunned. This was the moth's fate. I seemed to hear the moth's cry: "I need light, I need light!"…

Watching this tenacious creature, I had an epiphany, and the gloom in my heart gradually dissipated. The moth, with its tiny light, dedicated its life to chasing the light, and how could I easily bury myself in darkness? Even if the path is difficult and arduous, I must relentlessly pursue the light. As I gazed at the small but strong moth, the light seemed dazzling and warm, like a mother's hand comforting my troubled heart. In an instant, the gloom was dispelled by the light, as if I had suddenly arrived in a vibrant spring, the gloom settling into the soil, from which bloomed flowers of hope. I no longer complained about the hardships of study and life, and I buried my head in my work, my dull eyes regaining their luster. I found my own guiding light.

Give yourself a guiding light, to illuminate the darkness in your heart, to strive hard, to pursue your own light. As long as you are tenacious and determined, you can bloom flowers of hope; as long as you experience the baptism of wind and rain, you can welcome the rainbow; as long as there is light in your heart, you will not be swallowed by darkness.
